DENVER – Colorado Rockies sophomore shortstop Trevor Story has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with left shoulder inflammation.

Story’s injury is excepted to be short term. His injury occurred on a field check swing Tuesday night.

Story is batting .180 in 33 games of play this season. After his breakout freshman campaign he is struggled at nearly everything this season at the plate. His defense has been terrific however.

Pat Valaika and Alexi Amarista will take the duties of shortstop while Story is out. Ian Desmond a former shortstop is not a possibility to play the position at this time for the Rockies.
