BOULDER — Well, that one stings. Over 11,000 came out on Saturday afternoon as Colorado tried to send seniors Shane Gatling and Lucas Siewert out with a win. While the crowd brought the energy, Mick Cronin and his Bruins had other plans. UCLA played suffocating defense in the second half, preventing open shooting and forcing the ball inside where their…...

BOULDER — Colorado now sits alone atop the Pac-12 Conference.

While it is tough to not have one eye in Arizona this weekend with Oregon creeping behind in the conference standings, the Buffaloes took care of business in their 70-66 win against a strong USC team.

While they were outscored in the paint 42-24 behind two strong performances from Nick Rakocevic and Onyeka Okongwu, Colorado found success from the perimeter. With the bigs bullying down low, the Buffs hit 11 threes at a 42% clip to ultimately build their lead.

While they had six more turnovers than the Trojans, Colorado's success came from great ball movement around the court. There 16 assists led to great looks that helped to counter the slow start to the game, as they got USC moving on defense and found lanes to the basket or kicks behind the arc.

Here's what went down Thursday night:

It is time to move on from the Oregon loss in Eugene. It was in a hostile environment where the Ducks had a 75% chance to win according to ESPN’s metrics. It was a tough game, but it is time to move on. Colorado showed they still have the firepower to win on the road against a quality opponent, as…...

The Buffs, both literally and figuratively, threw the game away Thursday night in a 68-60 loss against the Oregon Ducks. In a matchup between the No. 16 and No. 17 programs in the nation, the game had a championship feel as it was close deep into the second half. Despite a 20-0 run in the first 15 minutes by Colorado,…...

BOULDER — As the clock was winding down in the first half, Colorado simply hadn't played up to its standards. The Buffs' first-half shooting was off while they struggled to get quality shots. Still, CU had to be relieved to keep it within double-digits.

Then, with 0.2 seconds on the clock, Stanford's Tyrell Terry drew a foul on a 3e-point attempt. As the crowd rained down boos, head coach Tad Boyle got his money's worth on a technical foul. As he made sure the refs heard his point of view, Terry sank five free throws in a row to put the Buffs down.

Early in the second half, the deficit grew to 16 as Colorado was desperately looking for a spark. In response, CU had an incredible 59 -oint second half that saw McKinley Wright IV and D'Shawn Schwartz light up the floor with efficient scoring. With that strong effort, Colorado completes a weekend sweep while moving to 19-5 on the season, as well as first within the conference.

Here's what went down in the comeback victory:

BOULDER — It's official. The Colorado Buffaloes beat a zone defense.

In a strong performance that gives the Buffs' a weekend sweep over the Washington schools, the home fans were treated to a physical game that displayed the full depth and potential of Colorado's lineup.

Just one week ago, Arizona's athleticism and size dismantled CU's frontcourt in a way that left some wondering if the ceiling of this team revolved around the lack of true size below. After tonight, it is clear that Tad Boyle had a plan and it is coming together wonderfully.
