Allie Monroy and AJ Haefele discuss the Colorado Avalanche’s loss in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the “offside” call, what to look forward too and more!

  • Tuff loss, fucked call on the off side, but it’s over, and as you say, AJ, we had half a game left to win it. I hated the ref’ing in the game, but it is what it is, with home teams getting the calls. Did you see that call on Rants where the ref closest to the trip did not make it, it was the outside ref beyond the blue line making the call from behind. That ref who did not make the call was bad all game.

Onto the draft and a great future! My picks now are either Byram to make the Avs blue line likely the best in the league in a couple of years, teaming his LH shot with, say, Timmins RH shot, or go with…surprise!…Cole Caufield, who is small, but highly skilled, and could quite possible be the best player in this draft. It may seem early for Caufield, but I think he’s going to be worth it, and we need scorers. A combination of his quick game and shooting ability might be complimented by a huge winger in Raphael Lavoie at 16, a big skater with a hard, accurate shot.

Both sound good, but I’d love to see a solidified blue line with Byram, and then go trade or FA to find more scoring.

    • I’m guessing the ref who made the call was Wes McCauley. Guy is class. When I heard he was in the game, I thought it was going to be a well-reffed game. Never would have guessed that reffing would decide the game in such an infuriating way.
